Once you have signed up to KDP, Amazon may ask you to verify your identity.
According to Amazon, this measure helps prevent scams, piracy, and the proliferation of low-quality or AI-generated content. Verification also ensures compliance with regulations, such as those for tax purposes.
You will be notified by Amazon if they require verification. When you log in to your KDP account, you will see a large banner at the top of the page stating ‘Identity verification required’.
To verify your identity, sign in to KDP and click on Your Account at the top of the page, then click on ‘Your Identity’. Review the information in this section the click ‘Verify Identity’. Follow the on-screen instructions.

As part of the verification process, you are required to submit a government-issued form of ID, such as a passport or a driver’s license.
