It’s good to assume that there will be questions from participants, so plan ahead for how you intend to build questions into your workshop. Will you have dedicated question time at the end or are you able to answer questions as you go? Consider which direction will better suit your workshop.
The location and length of workshops will impact the best way to deal with questions. A short workshop lends itself well to having dedicated question time at the end. Anything else often ends in the workshop being de-railed, which can have a significant impact on the rest of your timings. For online workshops, consider using the chat feature as a “parking lot” for questions to revisit. Consider providing post-it notes for in-person workshop questions to avoid participants desperately attempting to ask their question before they forget it.
As well as thinking about the timing of questions, attempt to plan ahead for questions you may receive. What questions did you have when you were new to this subject area? Is this vital information you need to add into your presentations? Will you need to find other examples? Are there any resources you recommend using?
