Participants can help create a positive and productive Zoom meeting experience for everyone by following these best practices:

Test your technology

Before the meeting, check that your camera, microphone, and internet connection are working properly. You can test your setup by joining a test meeting at https://zoom.us/test.

Prepare yourself and your space

Join the meeting on time and dress appropriately. Choose a quiet location with good lighting and remain in one place during the meeting. If you need to move, turn off your video first. Beverages are acceptable but avoid eating during meetings.

Muting audio and hiding video

Keep your microphone muted unless you are speaking. If your video is on, turn it off if you need to step away briefly.

Be respectful of others

Treat hosts, presenters, and fellow participants with respect. Avoid speaking over others and allow everyone an opportunity to contribute.

If you would like to ask a question or make a comment that is not directly related to the discussion, consider using the Chat window. Use the Raise Hand reaction to indicate you would like to speak.

Some hosts and presenters may specify a preferred method for asking questions or adding to the discussion, such as using the Raised Hand reaction or the Chat window. Please follow their guidance.

Respect privacy

Do not take photos, screenshots or record the meeting unless you have received explicit permission from everyone in the session.
